Myanmar National Human Rights Commission
Establishment of the Commission
According to the source, the President exercised executive authority conferred by the Constitution to establish the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission in accordance with the Paris Principles through Union Government Notification No. 34/2011 of 5 September 2011, considering it necessary for promoting and protecting citizens' fundamental rights under the Constitution.
Drafting of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission Law began in 2012 to provide a durable foundation for the Commission. The Commission submitted the draft to the Union Parliament through the Union Government, and the Law was promulgated on 14 March 2014 as Union Parliament Law No. 21.
The Commission was reconstituted under the Law by President's Office Notification No. 23/2014 on 24 September 2014, and again by President's Office Order No. 3/2020 on 14 January 2020. Appointments followed under State Administration Council Order No. 68/2023 of 3 August 2023, an expansion and appointment of members under Order No. 47/2024 of 7 September 2024, and appointments under Order No. 16/2025 of 31 January 2025.
The source describes the 2025 multi-party general election as having been held successfully and states that the Commission was subsequently reconstituted by President's Office Order No. 30/2026 of 10 April 2026, with Chair ဦးသစ်လင်းအုန်း and ten members as listed below.
